Best Gaming Laptops under $1500 [March 2018]

Updated as of

If you are serious about gaming, then a gaming laptop under 1500 is the choice for you!

In this price range, you should expect a powerful CPU like the Intel i7 7700HQ.

16+ GB fast RAM. A strong graphics card like the NVIDIA GeForce 1060 for stunning graphics. And an SSD for super fast load times.

All perfect for running the latest games at silky smooth 60 fps.

Nonetheless finding the perfect gaming laptops under 1500 takes knowledge and a lot of time. Fortunately, you just found this post.

LaptopBlogger is the real deal. We’re not a site that will recommend a Nvidia GTX 960m laptop when you can get the 250% better graphics card, the GTX 1060, in the same price range. (stay away if anyone recommends a GTX 970m or worse in this price range, it is hopefully outdated advice).

I have spent hours researching and analyzing every recommended laptop under 1500. Not only that, I found some hidden nuggets no other sites suggest with some very impressive hardware for the price.

So just sit back and relax. Here are the best gaming laptops under 1500:

#1 Best gaming laptop under $1500: ASUS ROG GL702VS (With Nvidia GTX 1070)

Asus ROG GL702VS for under $1500

The Asus Rog GL502VS is the only gaming laptop with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card. As of now, this is the best graphics card you can find in any gaming laptop for under $1500.

The Nvidia GTX 1070 has a nearly 50% better performance than the Nvidia GTX 1060 found in the other laptops on the list. Or, if you want it on benchmarks, just check the end of this article for the frame rates this graphics card produce on some of the latest games. In other words, you’ll run most games smoothly on ultra settings with this laptop.

The build quality feels sturdy and even if this is a 17″ gaming laptop, it feels portable and easy to bring with you.

The screen is a fantastic 1920×1080 IPS display with G-Sync support and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The speakers are average. They are enough for gaming but not ideal if you want the best possible sound for music.

With a previous price, well above 1500 bucks, you know this is gaming notebook that has everything you need for the best possible gaming experience. You get both of best world with the fast load times of the 128GB SSD and plenty of storage with the 1TB 7200 rpm HDD.

The processor is  Intel Core i7 7700HQ with a CPUmark score of over 8900.  One of the best processors on the market, ready to run any demanding program you throw at it. And the Acer Gl702VS has 12GB DDR4 RAM, plenty enough for both gaming and running demanding programs. You will have to have it plugged in for extended gaming sessions because as with any powerful gaming laptop, the battery life can only handle about 2-3 hours of gaming. Some users also reported it runs a bit hot, but that can always be solved with a cooling pad for around 20 bucks.

Summary: If you want to play the latest games on ultra graphics settings with smooth fps on a really amazing display, then this is the laptop to go for. Just remember to plug it in if you want to play for longer than 3 hours.

#2 Best 15″ gaming laptop under $ 1500: Asus GL503VM (With 120Hz Display)

best asus gaming laptop for under $1000

I know it looks bad with an Asus laptop both as our winner and our runner-up but the fact is that there are no other brands that can compete with the pure performance you get from these laptops for under $1500 at the moment. Here is why the Asus Gl503VM has the best hardware you can get for the money:

The Graphics Card: The graphics card in this laptop is the Nvidia GTX 1060. With the  GTX 1060, you’ll get smooth frame rates at almost all the latest games at high or even ultra settings.

But don’t take my word for it. Check out for yourself the benchmarks of some of the latest games at the end of this article.

The Design: With the sturdy and durable chassis you can feel this is a quality laptop. The keyboard feels good for both typing and gaming with fully customizable RBG backlighting. The touchpad is alright but is the weakest part of the laptop.

The Screen: The display is one of the Asus GL503VM strongest points. It has good viewing angles and the colors are accurate and crisp. You want to know the best part? It is a 120Hz Screen. With it, you can enjoy your favorite games fully in smooth 120 fps.

The Hardware: With a 256GB SSD and a 1TB SHDD you have a lot of storage and you can use the SSD for those programs you want to load really quickly.  You’ll also get 16GB RAM of the latest generation of RAM, DDR4 and one of the best CPUs on the market, the Intel Core i7-7700HQ.

Summary:  The Asus GL503 has simply the best hardware you can find in any gaming laptop for less than $1500. It has a solid design, a 120Hz screen with vivid colors and hardware that will let you play the latest games smoothly on ultra settings.

#3 The hidden powerhouse: Eluktronics P650HP6 (With 120Hz Display)

To compete with big brands like Alienware and Asus a small brand like Eluktronics has to offer something truly special. And that is exactly what you get with the Eluktronics P650HP6.

The chassis doesn’t scream gaming laptop. Instead, it has a clean and professional look. But if you look at the backlit blue keyboard you know this is a machine made for gaming. When you press down the start button and the P650HP6 boots up almost instantly and you lay your hands on the keyboard, you know this is a gaming laptop that you can depend on.

With 6GB VRAM, the Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card will run all your games at excellent frame rates on high settings. But the thing this gaming laptop has that makes it stand out is the 120Hz display.

The display is great and with 120Hz, you’ll be able to play your favorite games at 120 fps instead of 60 fps.

The CPU is the Intel Core i7 7700HQ, found in our other top gaming laptops. This combined with the 16GB DDR4 RAM will make running any program a breeze.

There are two things lacking in the notebook:

  1. An optical drive
  2. A hard drive with plenty of storage

So, if you know you’ll need an optical drive you’ll have to buy one and install it. And with only 2656GB memory, you’ll probably also have to buy an external hard drive if you want to store a lot of files.

Summary:  The Eluktronics P650HP6 is both VR-ready and has G-sync. The hardware is excellent and, as one of the many glowing reviews on Amazon says, “Ignoring Eluktronics because you haven’t heard of them is a mistake”.

#4 Best Design: MSI GP62MVRX

It doesn’t have the amazing Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card as our winner does. It doesn’t have a 120Hz monitor as our #2 and #3 has. But other than that, the MSI GP62MVRX has everything it needs to compete with the best gaming laptops for under $1500.

I’ll have to admit that I’m a huge fan of gaming laptops with flashy designs that screams gaming laptop. If that isn’t for you, I’ll understand and would recommend you another laptop.

I love the comfortable RBG backlit made by Steelseries. It feels great with good accuracy for both gaming and typing. The build quality of the MSI GP62MVRX is good and it’s one of the more lightweight laptops for under $1500 with a weight of 4.8 pounds (~2.2 kg).

The graphics card is the same, as the one in the 2 laptops above, the Nvidia GTX 1060. This graphics card will with the included Intel Core i7-7700HQ  processor make running demanding games a breeze.

With 16GB DDR4 RAM, and both a 1 terabyte hard-drive and a 256GB SSD, it has all the hardware you should expect in a top-rate gaming laptop for 1500 bucks.

The biggest disadvantage of this laptop is the poor battery life. You should also be aware that it does not contain a DVD-drive.

Summary:  The MSI GP62MVRX has a really good design and all the hardware you’ll need for an amazing gaming experience. The only problem is the poor battery, so remember to have the charger with you if you bring it with you.

#5 Sleek, lightweight and with smooth high frame rates: ASUS ROG Strix GL502VM

The Asus Gl502VM has all the powerful components you should expect from a gaming laptop under 1500. Including the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060.

The Gl502VM is a sleek lightweight laptop with a weight of around 4.8 pounds and a width of less than 1. It has a red illuminated keyboard that feels stable and is nice for everything from writing to intense gaming. The brushed aluminum finish makes the laptop stand out but is susceptible to fingerprints.

The screen is an IPS screen with a matte finish. It provides vivid colors and has good viewing angles. It is an all-around solid display.

The Asus ROG Gl502VM is a fast gaming notebook with a 7200 rpm 1 TB HDD and the newest generation of ram. With 16 GB DDR4 ram memory and the powerful Intel Core i7 7700HQ CPU with a CPUmark score of over 8900, you can be sure even the most demanding programs will run smoothly.

But two more factors made us pick this powerful gaming laptop. First is the graphics card. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 is the best graphics card you can get in any laptop for less than $1500. It is around 40% stronger in every aspect compared to the previous best GPU in a $1500 laptop, the GTX 980M. The frame rate on most games is solid even in ultra settings. Take a look yourself at the benchmarks at the end of this article. The second reason this is at the top of the list is the fast 128 GB Solid State Drive for when you want to load something ultra fast.

As with virtually any gaming laptop, the battery is pretty weak, and you should only expect to be able to play for 2-3 hours before you need to charge again. But do not let that put you off, the price you get for the hardware in this notebook is hard to beat.

Even if the Asus ROG Strix GL502VM suffers from some of the most common gaming laptop issues, this is something truly unique. The impressive hardware with the GTX 1060 that consistently runs the latest games smoothly even on the best settings makes the weak battery and the fingerprints on the case a nonfactor. You don’t even have to spend the whole $1500!

#6 Best Gaming Notebook Deal: Dell Inspiron I7577 5241BLK PUS

Dell gaming laptop under 1000

If you want the best deal you can get at the moment, then the Dell Inspiron i7577 is the perfect gaming laptop for you.

The Dell Inspiron i577 does not have the large SSDs and the 16GB DDR4 ram memory of the laptops above. But it definitely has the best cost/performance.

If you want to read more about it, check out our guide of the best gaming laptops under $1000. That’s right, you can get a gaming laptop with the Nvidia 1060 for less than $1000.

#7 The Budget Choice: Asus FX502VM

If you want the best bang for the buck. Then one gaming laptop you definitely should consider is the Asus FX502VM.

Just like the other more expensive gaming notebooks above, the graphics card is the Nvidia GeForce 1060. The NVidia GTX 1060 perform flawlessly on ultra settings in most modern games. Take a look, yourself at the fps you get in some of the latest games at the end of this article.

The design is sleek and lightweight for a gaming laptop. This means you can bring it wherever you want to but it also means that it can get a bit hot. The Asus FX502VM has both an SSD and an HDD. The 128GB SSD helps the Windows 10 OS to load faster and you still have 1TB of storage for all your other files.

With 16GB DDR4 RAM and a fast Intel Core i7 processor, running the latest games or demanding programs will be a breeze. The big reason that this notebook is so cheap is that Asus decided to save on the display. The screen is a bit dull with poor contrast. But if you don’t care for the best screen and want to save a couple of hundred bucks, then this is the deal for you.

Summary: If you want to save a lot of money from your $1500 budget, then go for the Asus FX502VM. The display is dull but the savings are great.

What I can say though is that of the laptops you mentioned, the one I would pick is the Asus GL502VM / GL702VM (depending on preferred screen size).
