If you want the best in laptop gaming for an affordable price, then a gaming laptop under 1500 is the choice for you!
In this price range, you should expect a powerful processor like the Intel i7 7700HQ.
16+ GB fast RAM. A high end dedicated graphics card like the NVIDIA GeForce 1060 for stunning graphics. And an SSD for super fast load times.
All perfect for running the latest games at silky smooth 60 fps.
Nonetheless finding the perfect gaming laptops under 1500 takes knowledge and a lot of time. Fortunately, you just discovered this post.
LaptopBlogger is the real deal. We’re not a site that will recommend a Nvidia GTX 960m laptop when you can get the 250% better graphics card, the GTX 1060, in the same price range. (stay away if anyone recommends a GTX 1050 or worse in this price range, it is hopefully outdated advice).
I have spent hours researching and analyzing every recommended laptop for under 1500. Not only that, I found some hidden nuggets no other sites suggest with some very impressive hardware for the price.
So just sit back and relax. Here are the best gaming laptops under 1500:

#1 Best Gaming laptop under $1500: Acer Predator Helios 300
The recently released Acer Predator Helios 300 has everything you’ll need for some flawless gaming performance for under $1500. It has a 144Hz display, the best graphics you can get for the money and an i7 processor from the latest generation.
This is a sleek high-performance gaming notebook with a pleasing design. The case is made of plastic with aluminum details. The weight is around 5.6 pounds (2.5 kg), considerably lower than some of the more bulky gaming laptops in this price range. I like that for such a powerful gaming notebook; it feels mobile and lightweight. It has all the necessary ports and also more modern ports like USB 3.1 Type C.
The only issue with the design is that under high load, it can get quite hot, especially at the bottom of the laptop, and the fans can be a bit loud.
The red illuminated keyboard is great. When you press down the keys on the keyboard, it makes almost no noise. It is backlit and has a nice WASD highlight. Typing on the Acer Helios is a nice feeling.
The screen is a Full HD LED-backlit IPS display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. It has great response time (<20ms) and vivid colors. The improved refresh rate of 144Hz makes everything smoother and is especially useful in competitive games where a higher refresh rate could provide a small advantage.
The graphics card is the Nvidia GTX 1060. With the GTX 1060, you’ll play almost every games smoothly on high/ultra graphics settings. Have a look yourself, at the end of this NotebookCheck article for the frame rates you’ll get with this graphics card.
The CPU in this laptop is the Intel Core i7-8750H. It is a considerable improvement from the best of the last generation. If you compare the CPU Mark you’ll notice the following:
The Acer Predator Helios has also 16GB DDR4 RAM. With powerful components like these, there’s no doubt you’ll get some excellent gaming performance.
But before you go ahead and get this notebook, make sure to notice that the 256GB fast SSD is the only storage included. So if you know you will store a lot of files, you might need to buy additional storage.
Summary: With a pleasing design, a powerful processor, the best graphics card for the price and plenty of RAM, the Acer Predator Helios 300 has everything you need for a great gaming experience.
|256GB SSD||Only 256GB of memory|
|Amazing price for the specs||Fans are loud under high load|
|Mobile and lightweight||Runs hot under high load|
#2 The runner-up: Asus GL503VM
Our previous winner, the Asus Gl503VM had to see The Acer Predator Helios 300 take its top spot. But the Asus Gl503VM has still some of the best hardware you can get in any laptop under $1500. Here is why the Asus Gl503VM has the best hardware you can get for the money:
The Graphics Card: The graphics card in this laptop is the Nvidia GTX 1060. With the GTX 1060, you’ll get smooth frame rates at almost all the latest games at high or even ultra settings. Check out the benchmarks for some of the latest games at the end of this article with this powerful graphics card. As you can see most games will run smoothly at ultra, but some games with optimization issues will run best at high graphics settings.
The Design: With the sturdy and durable chassis you can feel this is a quality laptop. The keyboard feels good for both typing and gaming with fully customizable RBG backlighting. The touchpad is alright but is the weakest part of the notebook.
The Screen: The display is one of the Asus GL503VM strongest points. It has good viewing angles, and the colors are accurate and crisp. Do you want to know the best part? It is a 120Hz Screen. With it, you can enjoy your favorite games fully in smooth 120 fps.
The Hardware: With a 256GB SSD and a 1TB SHDD you have a lot of storage, and you can use the SSD for those programs you want to load almost instantly. You’ll also get 16GB RAM of the latest generation of RAM, DDR4 and one of the best CPUs on the market, the Intel Core i7-7700HQ.
Summary: The Asus GL503 has simply the best hardware you can find in any gaming laptop for less than $1500. It has a solid design, a 120Hz screen with vivid colors and hardware that will let you play the latest games smoothly on ultra settings.
|Excellent screen||Weak touchpad|
|Excellent gaming performance||During high load, the fans can be loud|
|Plenty of storage with both the SSD and SSHD|
#3 The internet fan favorite: Eluktronics P650HP6
To compete with big brands like Alienware and Asus, a small brand like Eluktronics has to offer something exceptional. And exceptional is precisely what you get with the Eluktronics P650HP6.
The chassis doesn’t scream gaming laptop. Instead, it has a clean and professional look. But if you look at the backlit blue keyboard, you know this is a machine made for gaming. When you press down the start button and the P650HP6 boots up almost instantly, and you lay your hands on the keyboard, you know this is a gaming laptop that you can depend on.
With 6GB VRAM, the Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card will run all your games at excellent frame rates on high settings.
The gaming performance of the P650HP6 is excellent, but the thing that makes this gaming laptop stand out is the 120Hz display. It has excellent image quality, and with 120Hz refresh rate, you’ll be able to play some of your favorite games at 120 fps instead of 60 fps.
The CPU is the Intel Core i7 7700HQ. This processor combined with the 16GB DDR4 RAM will make running any program a breeze.
Two things are lacking in the notebook:
- An optical drive
- A hard drive with plenty of storage
So, if you know you’ll need an optical drive you’ll have to buy one and install it. And with only 256GB memory, you’ll probably also have to buy an external hard drive if you want to store a lot of files.
Summary: The Eluktronics P650HP6 is both VR-ready and has G-sync. The hardware is excellent and, as one of the many glowing reviews on Amazon says, “Ignoring Eluktronics because you haven’t heard of them is a mistake”.
|Nice 120Hz display||No optical drive|
|Nvidia GTX 1060 graphic card with 6GB VRAM||Only 256GB SSD|
|Great customer service|
#4 Best Heat Management: Dell G7
The Dell G7 has excellent hardware and keeps cool even during long gaming sessions. It used to cost over $4000 on Amazon.com, but before you rush to buy it, there are some things to be aware of.
The black chassis is made of 99% plastic. Even if it’s made of plastic, it feels really sturdy. The keyboard has a nice blue backlight and good key placement. All the keys are just where they need to be. The biggest disadvantage of the keyboard is the shallow key travel.
The screen is a full HD Led display that is unfortunately quite dim, and the colors are a bit dull. The screen only covers 62% of the sRBG gamut.
Under the keyboard, you’ll find some excellent components. The CPU is the Intel Core i7-8750H, a processor released this year with 6 cores, that will handle any program you throw at it. The graphics card is the Nvidia GTX 1060, the standard graphics card you’ll find in the best laptops under $1500. It has 16GB RAM of the latest generation of RAM, and it features both a 1TB hard drive and a 128GB SSD, so you can load Windows with lightning speed.
The biggest advantage of the Dell G7 is the excellent heat management. It has two large fan exhausts on the backs and will constantly provide low temperatures even when you have played demanding games for a longer period. The downside to this is that the fan noise is clearly noticeable if you’re not wearing a headset.
Summary: The Dell G7 has excellent hardware for smooth and lag-free gaming. However, the screen is a bit dim and the colors are dull. That’s why the Dell G5 is our number #4 on the list of the best gaming laptops under $1500.
|Amazing gaming performance||Dim display|
|Solid build quality||Shallow keys|
|Runs cold||Loud fan noise|
#5 The Budget Choice: Asus FX502VM
If you want the best bang for the buck. Then one gaming laptop you definitely should consider is the Asus FX502VM.
Just like the other more expensive gaming notebooks above, the graphics card is the Nvidia GeForce 1060. The NVidia GTX 1060 perform flawlessly on ultra settings in most modern games. Take a look, yourself at the fps you get in some of the latest games at the end of this article.
The design is sleek and lightweight for a gaming laptop. You can bring it wherever you want to, but the thin design also made it susceptible to heating issues. The Asus FX502VM has both an SSD and an HDD. The 128GB SSD helps the Windows 10 OS to load faster, and you still have 1TB of storage for all your other files.
With 16GB DDR4 RAM and a fast Intel Core i7 processor, running the latest games or demanding programs will be a breeze. The big reason that this notebook is so cheap is that Asus decided to save on the display. The screen is a bit dull with poor contrast. But if you don’t care for the best screen and want to save a couple of hundred bucks, then this is the deal for you.
Summary: If you want to save a lot of money from your $1500 budget, then go for the Asus FX502VM. The display is dull, but the savings are great.
|Solid SSD + HDD combo||Can get hot when used for longer periods of time|
|Fast Intel i7 processor||Poor display|
#6 Best Gaming Notebook Deal: Dell Inspiron I7577 5241BLK PUS
If you want the best deal you can get at the moment; then the Dell Inspiron i7577 is the perfect gaming laptop for you.
The Dell Inspiron i577 does not have the large SSDs and the 16GB DDR4 RAM of the laptops above. But it has the best cost/performance.
If you want to read more about it, check out our guide of the best gaming laptops under $1000. That’s right; you can get a gaming laptop with the Nvidia 1060 for less than $1000.
The Ultimate Guide To Buying a Gaming Laptop Under $1500
When buying a high-end gaming laptop, there is one thing that will have a big impact on your gaming performance. There are also some things that will make your gaming experience a lot better. Let’s start with the thing that will have a major impact on your gaming performance.
Pick the right graphics card
I have already talked quite a bit about picking the right graphics card in the buying guide of my list of the best gaming laptops under $1000. If you haven’t already, read it to understand why you need to look for a current and dedicated graphics card in your next gaming laptop under $1500, or any gaming laptop for that matter.
In this price range, you should get the Nvidia GeForce 1060 graphics card. It’s a strong graphics card that can run most games on smooth frame rates on high or ultra graphics settings.
In some rare cases, you can get a gaming laptop with the Nvidia GeForce 1070 graphics card for under $1500, but you’ll often have to sacrifice performance in another part of the notebook to get a graphics card as powerful as the Nvidia GeForce 1070.
The ASUS ROG GL702VS is an example of a laptop that is sometimes available for less than $1500 with the Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card. It has excellent gaming performance, but it has only 12Gb RAM compared to the standard 16 GB in this range and has lackluster battery life.
There are also many gaming laptops with graphics cards weaker than the Nvidia GTX 1060, like the Nvidia 1050. Ignore these as you can get much better gaming performance for the money.
Get at least 16GB RAM
If you have $1500 to spend, make sure you get a gaming laptop with at least 16GB RAM. Then you can be assured you won’t have any lag even if you run many applications at once or simply have too many tabs open on your web browser.
Intel Core i7 7700HQ – The standard CPU in the price range
The Intel Core i7 7700HQ is the most common processor in the best gaming laptops under $1500. It has an impressive CPUmark score of over 8900 and will handle any demanding program like a breeze.
Get an SSD for super fast load and boot times
A solid-state drive will help speed up your laptop tremendously. With the right SSD loading programs and games will be near instant. It also lowers the time it takes for the laptop to start up. Check out the difference an SSD can make to the boot times of a laptop:
A regular hard drive (HDD) is still the standard in this price range if you want to save a lot of files. That’s why manufacturers usually combine a fast SSD for the programs you want to load quickly and an HDD for when you want to save files.
Make sure it’s doesn’t run too hot
A common issue in gaming laptops is heating problems. With powerful hardware made for gaming, all cramped in a small laptop chassis, there’s no doubt that it will get warm. If you don’t mind some added noise, you can easily solve this problem with just around 20 bucks. An external laptop fan if it get’s warm on the sides can help. And if it’s too hot underneath a laptop cooling pad is a great solution for hot laptops.
Be aware of short battery life
Almost all gaming laptops have a sub par battery. Be prepared to compromise on battery life for better gaming performance. So, if you go for a gaming laptop, don’t expect running demanding games for extended periods of time. The standard battery life in a gaming laptop is only a few hours of gaming before you need to charge it again.
There are some options when it comes to the display on a gaming laptop under $1500. The standard is a 1080 x 1920 (Full HD) screen. But you can in some cases, get a screen with 4K resolution (3840×2160). If you do a lot of editing work, a 4K screen might be worth it. But for most gamers, it’s not worth it. The fact is, you’ll need a better graphics card than the graphics cards you find in this price range that to play games in 4K. At least if you want to play them with reasonable frame rates.
Another factor to consider is the refresh rate of the screen. Most displays in this price range have a 60Hz refresh rate. But if you want to play with more than 60 fps, consider a screen with 120Hz or 144Hz refresh rate. This is especially useful if you play time-intensive games and want the smoothest gaming experience possible.
Some gaming laptops for $1500 are VR ready. With a VR ready gaming laptop, you can use the laptop with something like the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive to run virtual reality games. To run VR you’ll need at least a Nvidia 1060 GPU, an i5 processor or better and at least 8GB RAM.
Durable and lightweight design
A portable gaming laptop is a must if you are going to bring it with you. Pick a gaming laptop with a durable but lightweight design. Then you can easily bring it with you and don’t have to worry about it breaking.
Many gaming laptops under $1500 offer impressive, illuminated keyboards with fast press time and proper key spacing. Typing on a $1500 gaming laptop is often an enjoyable experience. The trackpad is also usually alright, but as a gamer, you’ll most likely use an external mouse anyway.
Most modern gaming laptops lack an optical drive. This is because most games are played and installed from an online service like Steam.
If you want to have an optical drive, make sure the laptop has it, and if it doesn’t, it’s often easy to install one yourself and doesn’t cost much today.
