Touchscreen laptops are all the rage these days. But are they really worth it? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of touchscreen laptops to see if they are right for you. Touchscreens offer some unique advantages over traditional laptops, but there are also some drawbacks that you need to be aware of. So who are touchscreen laptops for? And is it worth switching to one? Read on to find out!

Quick Answer: Are Touchscreen Laptops Worth It?

Yes, touchscreen laptops are worth it for creatives, students, and business professionals looking for a more versatile laptop. They tend to be brighter, have more accurate colors, and are more intuitive to use than traditional laptops. However, they are more expensive and are not suited for gaming.

Advantages of Touchscreen Laptops

Straightforward navigation

One of the main advantages of touchscreen laptops is that they are very intuitive. If you can point and click, then you can use a touchscreen laptop. This makes them great for first-time laptop users or those who are not particularly tech-savvy.

Another advantage of touchscreen laptops is that you don’t need to get a separate mouse or keyboard. This can be great if you are short on space or want to save money.

Excellent for taking notes and for drawing

If you are a student or creative professional, then a touchscreen laptop can be a great tool. For example, taking notes on a touchscreen is much easier with a stylus than it is with a regular keyboard. What’s more, a touchscreen laptop for artists can be a godsend if you are into digital art.

Easy to bring with you

One of the great things about touchscreen laptops is that they are usually very lightweight. This means that they are easy to carry around with you, making them ideal for students or busy professionals who are always on the go.

Perfect for editing photos and videos

Another great advantage of touchscreen laptops is that they are perfect for editing photos and videos. With a regular laptop, you would have to use a mouse to make precise edits. However, with a touchscreen laptop, you can simply use your fingers to make the necessary edits.

Great for presentations

If you give a lot of presentations, then a touchscreen laptop is a great investment. With regular notebooks, you have to use a mouse to click through your slides. A touch screen laptop makes it easy to move from one slide to the next with just a few taps of your finger.

The Downsides

They are expensive

The biggest disadvantage of touchscreen laptops is that they are expensive. A regular laptop is a better option if you are on a budget. Make sure to consider if the extra features of a touchscreen are worth the additional cost.

The touchscreen drains the battery more quickly

A touchscreen is more advanced than a regular laptop, so it uses more battery power. The Thinkpad X1 Carbon, for example, has a 24% longer battery life on the non-touchscreen version of the model.

Harder to view the screen in direct sunlight

The glossy screens on touchscreen laptops are more reflective than the non-touch versions. As a result, when using your computer outdoors, you may have difficulty seeing the screen on a sunny day.

Who Are They For?

Touchscreen laptops are great for anyone who wants the ability to use their computer like a tablet. If you’re constantly on the go and need a device that can do it all, then a touchscreen laptop is ideal.

If you’re a student, a touchscreen laptop can be a great way to take notes in class. And if you’re a creative professional, you’ll appreciate the added flexibility that a touchscreen provides.

Can They Be Used For Office Use?

Yes, touchscreen laptops are becoming more and more popular in the business world. They’re a great way to stay productive on the go, and many businesses are now investing in them for their employees.

The exception is professionals who use demanding applications in their everyday work. The most powerful business laptops are still traditional, but more and more businesses are considering using gaming laptops as their business laptops.

How Do Touchscreen Notebooks Work?

The majority of touchscreen laptops use what’s called capacitive touch, which relies on the electrical properties of your body to register input. When you touch the screen, it distorts the electrostatic field, which the computer detects and interprets as input. This is different from a standard laptop, which has a touchpad or pointing stick for input.

The other type of touchscreen laptop is called resistive. A resistive touchscreen has two layers of material, with a space between them. When you press down on the top layer, it bends and makes contact with the bottom layer. This completes an electrical circuit and sends a signal to the computer that registers it as an input. The disadvantage of resistive touchscreens is that they can’t handle multitouch input like capacitive screens.

Can a Touchscreen Laptop Replace a Tablet?

Now that you know how a touchscreen laptop works, you might wonder if it can replace your tablet. After all, both are portable and have touchscreens. The answer to this question depends on how you use your devices. If you primarily use your tablet for entertainment, such as watching movies or playing games, then a touchscreen laptop probably won’t be a suitable replacement. However, a touchscreen laptop could be a good option if you use your tablet for productivity tasks, such as taking notes or editing documents.

The Bottom Line

Touchscreen laptops are a great option for anyone who wants the best of both worlds – the power of a laptop with the convenience of a tablet. While they may be more expensive than traditional laptops, they offer a lot of benefits that make them worth the investment. So, if you’re in the market for a new laptop, consider getting one with a touchscreen. You might be surprised at how much you end up loving it!

If you’ve ever been in a situation where you needed to clean your laptop screen and didn’t have any cleaning supplies on hand, you may have wondered if it’s okay to use lens cleaner. Unfortunately, the answer is no – you should not use eyeglass cleaner on a computer screen, and here’s why:

Can You Use Lens Cleaner on Laptop Screen?

No, you should not use lens cleaner on a laptop screen. The chemicals in lens cleaner can damage the coating on the screen, causing it to become dull and discolored.

What Should You Use Instead Of Lens Cleaner?

If you need to clean your laptop screen, you can use a few alternative cleaners. You can purchase a commercial LCD screen cleaner or make your own cleaning solution by mixing equal parts distilled water and white vinegar. Then, simply spray the solution onto a soft cloth and wipe down the screen.

Products To Avoid When Cleaning Your Screen

Avoid using harsh cleaners on your laptop screen, such as window cleaner. These products can damage the protective coating that is applied to the screen.

You should also avoid using paper towels or other rough materials to clean your screen. These can scratch the delicate surface of the screen. Instead, use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe away any dirt or debris gently.

You can dampen your cloth with water if you need to remove stubborn stains. However, avoid using too much water, as this can damage the LCD screen.

If you must use a cleaner on your screen, make sure it is designed specifically for use on LCD screens. You can find these cleaners at most electronics stores. Follow the instructions on the cleaner to avoid damaging your screen.

Where Can I Buy Laptop Screen Cleaning Wipes?

You can find laptop screen cleaning wipes at most electronics stores or online. Make sure to read the reviews before purchasing to ensure you are getting a quality product.

Once you have your cleaner, follow the instructions on the packaging. Avoid using too much of the cleaner, as this can damage the screen. Instead, apply the cleaner to a soft, lint-free cloth and gently wipe the screen.

If you don’t have time to go out and buy a cleaner, you can make your own:

How To Make Your Own Screen Cleaner

You can also make your own screen cleaner with just a few household ingredients:

Start by mixing equal parts of water and white vinegar in a bowl. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Simply spray a small amount onto a clean cloth and wipe down your screen. Avoid spraying the cleaner directly onto your screen.

You can change the white vinegar to baking soda if you prefer. Just mix two parts baking soda with one part water. Pour a small amount of the mixture onto a clean cloth and wipe down your screen.

How Often Should You Clean Your Laptop Screen?

You should clean your laptop screen as often as needed to keep it free of smudges and fingerprints. If you use your computer in a dusty environment, you may need to clean it more frequently. If you use a touchscreen for gaming or everyday use, you might also need to do some additional cleaning.

Cleaning your laptop screen is a simple task that only takes a few minutes. Keeping your screen clean can help extend its lifespan and keep it looking its best.

Can You Use Rubbing Alcohol On Your Screen?

While rubbing alcohol can effectively clean your screen, some risks are involved. First, if the rubbing alcohol is too strong, it can damage the anti-glare coating on your screen. Second, if you use too much-rubbing alcohol, it can seep into the cracks of your laptop and potentially damage the internals. For these reasons, we recommend avoiding rubbing alcohol and sticking to a product made specifically for cleaning screens.

What About Windex?

Windex can also damage the anti-glare coating on your screen and is not recommended. In addition, Windex can leave streaks on your screen that are difficult to remove.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is best to avoid using lens cleaner or Windex on your laptop screen. There are many alternative cleaners that are specifically made for screens and will not damage your computer. If you choose to use rubbing alcohol, be sure to dilute it with water and use a very small amount. As always, be sure to test any cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area of your screen before using it on the entire surface.

5G is the next generation of wireless technology and is set to revolutionize the world as we know it. But is 5G better for gaming? That is a question that many gamers are asking themselves. In this blog post, we will take a look at the advantages of 5G and answer the question once and for all:

Is 5G Better for Gaming?

Yes, 5G is better for gaming. The reason it’s better for gamers is because it offers lower latencies, higher speeds, and more consistent connections. 5G is capable of hitting 10Gbps, delivering speeds up to 100 times faster than current 4G LTE networks.

5G and Latency

When it comes to gaming, one of the most important factors is latency. Latency is the time it takes for a signal to travel from your device to the game server and back again. The lower the latency, the smoother the gameplay will be. And that is where 5G really shines…

For starters, let’s take a look at the latencies that are associated with different types of wireless networks:

  • 5G: 1 millisecond
  • 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution): 50-70 milliseconds
  • Wi-Fi: 20-40 milliseconds
  • Ethernet: 0.15 milliseconds

As you can see from the latencies above, there is a significant difference between the different types of wireless networks. And that is why many gamers believe that switching to 5G is a no-brainer.

But there is more to consider than just latency when it comes to gaming on a wireless network. Another important factor is bandwidth:

Bandwith

Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transferred from one point to another in a given amount of time. And when it comes to gaming, you need all the bandwidth you can get.

Let’s have a look at the theoretical speed of 4G, 5G, Wi-fi and Ethernet.

  • 5G: Up to 20 Gbps
  • 4G: 50-100Mbps
  • Wi-Fi: 150-300Mbps
  • Ethernet: Up to 100Gbps

As you see, Ethernet is the clear winner when it comes to bandwidth. But 5G is starting to catch up and is the superior choice for wireless gaming.

Benefits of 5G for Gaming

Now that we know the basics let’s look at some of the benefits of using a wireless network for gaming.

Excellent Speed

As shown in the table above, 5G is faster than 4G and wi-fi. This is important for gamers who need to transfer large files quickly or stream live gameplay without any lag.

Since 5G is almost 20 times faster than LTE, it will be around 20 times faster to download games, updates, and DLCs on a 5G network.

Low Latency

One of the most important factors for gamers is latency. This is the delay between when you make a move and when it appears on the screen.

Less latency can be the difference between winning and losing a game.

Wireless networks have always had higher latency than wired connections like Ethernet. But, with the release of new technologies, the gap is getting smaller, and 5G is leading the charge.

Next-level VR gameplay

If you want to experience the newest and best in VR gaming, you’re going to need a good connection.

Because of the large file sizes and high bandwidth requirements, most VR games can’t be played on anything less than a wired connection.

However, with the introduction of next-gen VR headsets like the Oculus Rift S and HTC Vive combined with 5G’s low latency, playing demanding VR games wirelessly is finally possible.

What does this mean for the future of gaming?

The potential for wireless VR is huge, and with the release of new headsets and the rollout of more widespread coverage, we’re likely to see a significant increase in the number of people playing VR games.

Augmented Reality – The Next Frontier

While VR is an immersive experience that takes you to another world, augmented reality (AR) is a technology that overlays digital information in the real world.

One of the most popular examples of AR is Pokemon Go, which allows players to catch virtual creatures in the real world.

With the release of new AR headsets and the rollout of more widespread coverage, we’re likely to see a significant increase in the number of people playing AR games. As the development of AR technology continues, we can expect to see the need for high-speed connections to support gaming experiences that are even more realistic and immersive.

Having 5G will then be a major advantage for gamers who want to be at the forefront of this cutting-edge technology.

How Can You Get Started With 5G Gaming?

If you’re interested in trying out gaming on a new level, you’ll need to make sure you have a few things in place first:

  • A supported device: at the moment, only certain smartphones and laptops are able to connect to 5G networks.
  • Access to a network: this is currently only available in selected areas.
  • A subscription with a 5G operator: in order to get access to a network, you’ll need to be a customer of one of the few companies currently offering this technology.

Once you have these things ready, you can start gaming on your supported device using a fast and stable connection!

If your device is not supported, don’t worry- you can still enjoy all the benefits of a reliable and high-speed internet connection by using a 5G dongle or router. This will connect your devices to the internet via a fast and stable connection, allowing you to enjoy gaming without any lag or interruptions.

Bottom Line

So is it better for gaming? The answer is a resounding yes! Having a high-speed connection is key if you’re looking to get the most out of your gaming experience. And with the release of new VR headsets and games on the horizon, now is the perfect time to consider making the switch to a faster network.

Many people focus on graphics and performance when it comes to gaming laptops. However, what many people don’t realize is that the read/write speeds of your SSD can have a significant impact on your gaming experience. This article will discuss what read/write speeds you need for a gaming laptop and why they are important. We will also cover some advantages of higher write and read speeds. So if you’re in the market for a new gaming laptop, be sure to keep this information in mind!

Quick Answer: What Read/Write Speeds Do You Need For Gaming?

For gaming, you will want to look for an SSD with at least a read speed of 1000 MB/s and a write speed of 800 MB/s. However, if you can find an SSD with higher read/write speeds, it will improve your gaming experience.

Why Are Faster SSD Speeds Important for Gaming?

Faster SSD speeds are important for gaming because they can decrease load times and improve in-game performance. Load times are the amount of time it takes for your computer to load up a game or level. The faster your SSD’s read speed, the shorter your load times will be. This is because the read speed determines how fast data can be transferred from the SSD to your computer.

Games with graphically demanding scenes or large open worlds can also benefit from faster SSD speeds. For example, when a game has many textures or models to load, it can take longer for your computer to process everything. This can lead to stuttering or frame rate drops. Faster SSD speeds can help reduce or eliminate these issues.

Another advantage of having a fast SSD is that the operating system can boot up faster. This means less time waiting for your computer to start up and more time for gaming.

What are Acceptable SSD Speeds in a Standard Laptop or Desktop?

In general, you should look for an SSD with a minimum read speed of 500 MB/s, and a minimum write speed of 450 MB/s. However, these are just the minimum speeds. For optimal gaming performance, you should look for an SSD with a read speed of at least 1000 MB/s and a write speed of at least 800 MB/s.

What Are The Advantages of SSDs in Gaming Laptops?

SSDs offer several advantages over traditional hard drives. They’re much faster, leading to shorter load times for games. They also use less power, which can help improve battery life.

Another advantage of SSDs is that they tend to have a longer lifespan than hard drives. This is because they have no moving parts, which means there’s less that can break down over time.

The last advantage we’ll mention of SSDs is that they’re often smaller than hard drives, which can be a godsend for gamers who want to travel with their laptops or want to pack powerful components in a smaller form factor.

Are There Any Disadvantages of SSDs in Gaming Laptops?

The main disadvantage of SSDs is that they’re more expensive than hard drives. This is especially true for larger capacities.

Are Read or Write Speeds More Important?

You’ll generally want to look for an SSD with a higher read speed than write speed. That’s because most games are mostly read-only operations. The load times will be shorter if the drive can read data faster.

While write speeds are important, they don’t tend to be as big of a factor. That’s because gaming generally doesn’t involve writing large amounts of data to the drive.

What Write/Write Speed Does The Fastest SSDs for Gaming Have?

The fastest SSDs have write speeds of around 5000 MB/s. However, these drives are also very expensive. For most gamers, an SSD with a write speed of 1000 MB/s will be more than enough.

As for read speeds, the fastest SSDs can reach speeds of around 7000 MB/s. But, again, these drives are very expensive. For most gamers, an SSD with a read speed of around 800 MB/s will be more than enough.

Do You Need A Fast SSD For Gaming?

No, you don’t need the absolute fastest SSD to game on. However, the faster, the better. A fast SSD will load games quicker and make for a smoother gaming experience.

Conclusion

An SSD with a write speed of around 1000 MB/s and a read speed of around 800 MB/s will be more than enough for gaming. However, if you can afford it, go for an SSD with a higher write and read speed. The extra speed will make for faster loading times and a smoother gaming experience. Thank you for reading!

Yes, the Nvidia RTX 3060 is good for gaming. It’s one of the most cost-efficient cards for high-end 1080p gaming. It’s even capable of 1440p gaming and can run most games at high or ultra settings with smooth frame rates.

Pros and Cons of the Nvidia RTX 3060

Pros Cons
Ray tracing and DLSS brings games to life with more realistic lighting and shadows Some games need some visual tweaks to run at stable frame rates on 1440p resolution
12GB of GDDR is the sweet spot for high-end gaming Not as future-proof as the RTX 3070 or the Nvidia RTX 3080
Compact, quiet, and stays cool Owners of the 20-series cards might not see enough of an upgrade to warrant the purchase

Design and architecture

The Nvidia RTX 3060 (mobile) is built on the Ampere architecture and is manufactured with a modern 8nm process. It has a die size of 276mm² and a transistor count of 12 billion. The laptop version of the Nvidia RTX 3060 has 3584 CUDA cores, which is 1664 more than the RTX 2060 that it replaces in Nvidia’s lineup. It also features 30 RT cores and 120 Tensor cores for ray tracing and AI-accelerated features.

The desktop version is not as power-hungry as its RTX 2060 predecessor and has a TGP (total graphics power) of 170W. On the other hand, the mobile version is even more frugal, with a TGP of 115W.

Performance and Benchmarks

The RTX 3060 is a very fast graphics card and is capable of playing games at 1440p with high/ultra settings at 60+ FPS. It is also worth noting that the RTX 3060 is able to maintain its performance consistency better than the RTX 2060, which is likely because it has more CUDA cores.

The RTX 3060 is 18% faster than the RTX 2060 and is only behind the RTX 3070 by 13%. Regarding ray tracing, the RTX 3060 is also very impressive and can deliver playable framerates in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Control.

Version 1.5 of Cyberpunk 2077 ran at an average of 63 FPS on the RTX 3060 with the game’s highest graphics settings. In Elden Ring, the RTX 3060 can maintain an average framerate of 58 fps running on ultra settings. Red Dead Redemptions II saw an average of 48fps @ ultra settings on the RTX 3060, while Shadow of the Tomb Raider ran at an average of 84 fps.

If you come from a system with a GTX 10 series or lower graphics card, the RTX 3060 is a massive upgrade. It has 72% higher performance than the Nvidia GTX 1060 and offers features like ray tracing and DLSS that were not available on previous-generation cards.

If you’re in the market for a new graphics card and you’re wondering if the AMD Radeon Vega 10 is a good option, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we’ll look at the GPUs design, performance, value, and pros and cons to help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

Is the Vega 10 Good For Gaming?

Yes, the AMD Radeon Vega 10 is good for older games and can handle newer games if you lower the settings. It will not give you the same level of performance as a high-end graphics card, but it’s great for light gaming.

Pros and Cons of the AMD Radeon Vega 10

Pros Cons
The affordable price makes it a great option for budget-conscious gamers Some games may require you to lower the settings to get playable framerates
The Vega architecture is designed for better performance and efficiency Since it’s an integrated GPU, it doesn’t have its own memory and is limited by the system’s CPU and memory
Major improvements compared to previous AMD GPUs

Design and Architecture

The AMD Radeon Vega is based on the Vega architecture and is manufactured on the 14nm process. It was released in August 2017. Major improvements compared to previous AMD GPUs include a new memory controller, higher clock speeds, and a redesigned shader core.

Regarding clock speeds, the base clock is 600MHz, and the boost clock is 1300MHz. Compared to the previous Polaris architecture, the boost clock is significantly higher, and it’s now possible to fully utilize DirectX 12.

It’s also fairly energy-efficient with a power consumption of 15W.

Who Is It For?

The AMD Radeon Vega is a good choice for gamers who are looking for a fast and energy-efficient GPU. It offers great value for the price and is capable of running most games at high settings. However, it’s not the best choice for gamers who are looking for the highest possible performance. If you’re looking for the best possible gaming experience, you should consider spending more money on a higher-end dedicated GPU such as the Nvidia RTX 3060.

Performance and Benchmarks

Gamers will be happy to know that the Radeon Vega can run most games at playable framerates. However, you’ll need to look elsewhere if you’re looking to game at high resolutions or on ultrawide monitors.

Some recent demanding games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Halo Infinite are unplayable even at the lowest settings, while less demanding games such as Fortnite and CS: GO run just fine.

On CS: GO, for example, the Radeon Vega is able to maintain an average of 41 frames per second at 1080p on ultra settings.

The same can be said for games like Fortnite and Apex Legends, where the Radeon Vega is also able to maintain a consistent framerate. For example, Fortnite maintains an average of 32 frames per second on 1080p on medium settings, while Apex Legends is able to maintain a consistent 40+ frames per second on low settings.

The AMD Vega’s performance is on par with the Nvidia GeForce MX150, which is a budget card from 2017. So if you’re looking to game at 1080p and don’t mind turning down the settings a bit, the Radeon Vega is a good option.

The Radeon Vega 10 is faster than the Nvidia 940MX by a decent margin, with the former being up to 12% faster. It won’t quite reach up to the performance of the GeForce MX150, though.

When we ran the 3D Mark Time Spy benchmark, the Radeon Vega scored a lowly score of 825. The 16454 score on 3DMark 05 is also on the low side.

The bottom line is that, while it is possible to game on the AMD Radeon Vega, you’ll have to lower your expectations a bit if you’re looking to play the latest and greatest games at 1080p resolution. If you’re willing to do that, then the card is a decent option thanks to its low price point.

Value

Value is where the Radeon Vega really shines. tT’s one of the most affordable graphics cards on the market that is actually worth buying.

For the price, you get a card that is capable of running most games at 1080p resolution with decent frame rates.

Can The Vega 10 Run VR Games?

No, the Vega is not a good option for virtual reality gaming. VR games require a powerful dedicated graphics card to run smoothly, and the integrated Vega 10 just doesn’t have enough under the hood.

Verdict

The AMD Radeon Vega is a decent graphics card for gaming, especially if you’re on a budget. Of course, you’ll want to look elsewhere if you’re looking for the best possible performance. However, if you’re on a budget and willing to lower your expectations a bit, definitely consider a laptop with the AMD Radeon Vega 10 graphics card!
