The best part? All that without worrying about lag and heating problems.

So without further ado, here are the best gaming laptops under $1000:

Note: A gaming laptop under 1000 will give you a good gaming performance. But if you want to play on 60 fps on ultra settings, the laptops in this list simply isn’t enough. Then you might need to consider a gaming laptop under 1500. If you, on the other hand, just want to play non-demanding games, a gaming laptop under 500 will be plenty enough for you.

Limited TimeAsus FX502VM with GTX 1060 for under $1000!

If you are reading this, you might still have a chance to make an amazing laptop deal. The Asus FX502VM is currently on sale and if they are still in stock, you can get a laptop with the NVIDIA GTX 1060 graphics card for less than 1000 bucks.

The NVidia GTX 1060 perform flawlessly on ultra settings in most modern games and is the standard graphics card in the best gaming laptops under $1500. Take a look, yourself at the fps you get in some of the latest games at the end of this article.

You also get a 1 TB fast hard drive with a rotation speed of 7200RPM and 16 GB ram with the latest ram standard DDR4. The Intel Core i5-6300HQ is not as powerful as many of the processors on this list but still has a respectable 6017 CPU Mark score.

Summary: Normally, I write a bit more in-depth about every laptop but no time to waste when there is a deal this good around. This is definitely not the best GTX 1060 laptop around, but it is for sure the best deal on a 1060 laptop around. Click check price below to get and hopefully get a laptop deal that is hard to beat.

#1 Best gaming laptop under 1000: Acer Aspire VX5-591G

The Acer Aspire VX5-591G has everything you need to look for in a gaming laptop. Fast memory, sharp graphics, and a quality design.

With an aggressive design with red lines, large fan exhausts and a sturdy silver plastic hinge, you know that this is a machine made for gaming. The red-backlit keyboard feels great and is well laid out. The big issue with it is that fingerprints show up quite quickly. The speakers have a decent sound, and the 1080HD screen is high quality providing clear images with accurate color.

The hardware has everything you need for gaming and then some. 16 GB DDR4 ram from the latest generation of ram running at 2133 Mhz. The recently released (7th gen), Intel Core i7-7700HQ. A CPU with almost a 9000 CPU Mark score, one of the best processors on the market that will run anything you throw at it. And a 256GB solid state drive for that super fast boot and load.

Unfortunately, there’s no HDD, so all the included memory is the 256GB from the SSD. But you can always buy external storage.

Even if there are some minor flaws, what matters in a gaming laptop is the graphics card. On that point the Acer deliver. Backed by the Nvidia GTX 1050Ti, the computer can run all the latest games with solid fps on medium- high settings. Instead of just saying that just check out the benchmark for some of the most popular games over at Notebookcheck. These gaming benchmarks are the best you can get on any laptop for under 1000 dollars, and that is what makes the  Acer Aspire VX5-591G our winner as the best gaming laptop under 1000.

Summary: Everything you need in a gaming laptop. Quality design, fast, durable and a solid graphics card. Plays the latest graphics smoothly on nice settings but with only 256GB storage, you might need to buy additional storage if you want to save a lot of files on it.

#2 Best NVidia GTX 1050 gaming notebook: HP CUK Pavilion 15

HP has done something I never thought I would see. The brand is more known for lower-end multimedia laptops, but their new gaming laptop sure deliver. The HP CUK is the only gaming laptop you can find, with the latest from the next generation of graphics cards, the Nvidia GTX 1050 for under 1000.

And let me tell you one thing. The GTX 1050 is a huge improvement from the old standard in this price range the GTX 960m. The user benchmarks show that the Nvidia GTX 1050 is 64% stronger than the Nvidia GTX 960m.

But what really matters is how it runs the latest games. And the fps on the latest games are great, it will play most modern games smoothly on high settings and many, even run smoothly on ultra settings. Check for yourself for the benchmarks at the end of this article.

The design is the most ordinary on the list. No flashy colors, no bulky design, and no flashy details. Instead, it has a more well rounded clean look. It is also lightweight for being a gaming laptop, around 5 pounds (2.2 kg). The screen is alright but not the best on the list.

Under the matte silver case is some great hardware. The CPU is the powerful Intel Core i7-7700HQ, a processor just released with an impressive, nearly over 9000 CPU  Mark score, the most powerful processor on the list. The 1 TB hard drive has plenty enough memory for all your favorite games, and it is also quite fast with a rotation speed of 7200 rotations per minute. The 2133 Mhz 16GB ram is also super fast. It is the newest generation of ram, DDR4.

Summary: The best graphics you can get in a gaming laptop under 1000. The fans can be a bit loud when the notebook works hard, and the screen is not the best. But with the powerful hardware, HP surprised us with a really affordable gaming laptop.

#3 Best Asus gaming laptop under 1000: Asus GL553VD

Asus GL553VD Nvidia GTX 1050 Notebook

Sure, the Asus GL553VD is not as good of a deal as the Dell i17559 (#2) or have the screen of the 3762GRY (#3). But what it do have, is some excellent gaming performance with the powerful Nvidia GeForce 1050 GPU. And an attractive design to top it off.

The build quality is solid. With a plastic cover, aluminum lid and orange details, you get a look that shows that this is a machine designed for gaming. The gaming keyboard looks great with customizable RGB lighting in 4 different zones. The screen is great, with sharp images and vivid colors. The only issue there is how it’s designed is that the lid is susceptible to fingerprints.

With 16 GB 2133 Mhz RAM, a fast 7200 rpm 1 TB hard drive and the recently released Intel i7-7700HQ you get a combo that will make running even the most resource intensive applications a breeze. And as the benchmark at the end of this NotebookCheck article show, the Nvidia 1050 inside the Asus GL553VD deliver. Getting a stable fps on high settings is great considering this is a gaming laptop with a less than 1000 dollar price tag.

The battery life will last around 4 hours of standard usage, but if you do some gaming, you better bring a power adapter with you, because then you need to find an outlet way sooner than that.

Summary: With the best GPU you can get in this price range and a powerful i7 processor from the latest generation you will get solid performance and smooth gaming. Just make sure to be close to a power outlet if you want to game for 2+ hours.

#4 Ultra HD resolution under 1000(!): Dell Inspiron i7559-3762GRY

dell gaming laptop under 1000Yes, it is true. There is finally a gaming laptop with an Ultra HD display available for under 1000. The screen is not perfect. It could have been a bit brighter, but when you use it, you notice something. It is miles ahead of ordinary 1080p screens.
The excellent screen is just one of the many great things about the Dell Inspiron i7559-3762GRY.

The design reminds of the other Dell in our lists modest and professional look. In fact, this is the same laptop but with a better screen and stronger hardware.

The graphics card is the standard if you want to have the best in this price range, the GTX 960M with 4GB dedicated memory for gaming. The included SSD is mostly used to speed things up. The combination of the solid i7-6300 quad-core processor, the SSD, and the 8GB fast (2133mhz) ram makes this laptop blazing fast for the money.

I don’t personally think Amazon can keep the price for a laptop like this under 1000 for very long. So don’t hesitate, buy it on Amazon today to buy a 4K gaming laptop for a bargain price.

Don’t expect to play demanding titles in 4k resolution on high settings (you need to spend considerably more than 1000 for that). However, just having a UHD screen and solid hardware for the price is plenty enough to make the Dell Inspiron i7559-3762GRY as our third best gaming laptop under 1000.

#5 For the Solid State Drive fans: Asus K501UW

Asus K501UW for gamers

Do you want a larger solid state drive than the 256GB SSD in the (number 2 on the list) Dell Inspiron i7559? Do you prefer a solid but not too flashy design? And seek powerful hardware, all for less than 1000? Then, the Asus K501UW could be the gaming laptop under 1000 for you.

The Asus K501UW has, just like the HP above, a rather discrete design. With the elegant but sturdy, gray metal cover you would be surprised what’s hidden underneath.

Inside, you find just like most of the laptops in the list the Nvidia Gtx 960m graphics card.  The CPU is the Intel Core i7-6500U, about equally powerful as the top rated processor, the i7-6700HQ. The 8GB RAM is of the modern type DDR4.

One of the weaker parts of the laptop is the screen. It’s a decent display, but there are far better screens on other laptops in this price range.

The main thing that makes this laptop stand out is the 512GB SSD. With this much memory, you can store a lot of files and program and always have quick access to them with the help of the solid state drive. Unfortunately, there is no included HDD so for some people that like to install a lot of programs and store a lot of files, the rather small amount of memory could be an issue.

Summary: The K501UW is a great gaming laptop with strong gaming performance and fast load- and boot times.  The 512GB SSD is fast, but the total memory on the laptop is on the lower side.

#6 Best value: Dell Inspiron i5577

Included SSD, a potent graphics card, a powerful processor and a saving of $200, what more can you ask for? The Dell Inspiron i5577 gives a deal that is hard to beat.

The Inspiron i5577 is a light-weight gaming laptop with a modest and professional look. It has a sturdy matte black plastic housing, diamond curved edges, and red details. The palm rest has a slide-resistant coating that feels great. The screen provides crisp, vibrant graphics. I would say the screen is one of the best full HD laptop screens on the market currently. The speakers sound good but are not the computer’s strongest point. A strong mid and high-frequency range but the bass of the speaker is slightly lacking.

Inside is the previous top graphics card in this price range, the GTX 960M. This card does continuously play smoothly no matter if you play the latest AAA title or just want to play some online games. At least on medium-high settings. (as you can see on the benchmarks at the end of this article) The Ram memory is only 8GB. This won’t be a problem if you just are looking for a gaming laptop; 8GB ram is plenty enough for gaming. But if you want to run a ram intensive application, as an editing tool, I would pick another computer on the list.

The i5577 comes just like it’s predecessor, the i7559, with a 256 GB SSD. This hard drive will make booting up, transferring, adding or loading files fast.

If you are a savvy shopper always looking for the best deal, this is the laptop for you. You can save more than 200 dollars of your laptop budget by purchasing this laptop on Amazon today. The hardware is both affordable and powerful. For the best cost/performance ratio, this is the choice. So if you can afford having a smaller hard drive and less ram, you will love the Dell Inspiron i5577.

Summary: The Dell Inspiron is the best deal you could get if you are looking for a gaming laptop under 1000. It has not only a great price; it has hardware you only find in computers priced 150+ $ more. The biggest weakness of the laptop is the small memory size. 256 Gb is on the lower end, but if you need more, you could always buy an external hard drive. For most performance for the price, this is your gaming laptop.

#7 The solid choice: Acer Vn7-592G

vn7If you are looking for versatility as well as a good value, the Aser V17 Nitro is the computer you should choose. Many of the gaming laptops under $1000 in this list have lit up keyboards and flashy gaming designs. The Acer V7 Nitro took the other route with a more elegant and polished design. The laptop has a soft slimmed-down plastic case with a smooth but firm feel. The interior is sleek and uses Acers soft touch technology, making the Vn7 pleasure to rest your palms on.

This laptop is not only designed for futureproof gaming, but it will also suit all your needs. The v17 nitro is backed by the fast (2133 MHz) DDR4 RAM memory and the fastest processor you will find for the price. The Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core processor based on the Skylake Architecture makes even the most demanding applications run like a breeze. So no matter if you want to run 3d modeling programs, Photoshop, code or maybe just play the latest games to the fullest extent, this computer won’t let you down.

The graphics card inside is the GTX 960M, a card we already concluded above, plays most of the newest games smoothly at high quality. The computer still does have some flaws; it’s after all only placed fifth. The screens response time of 25ms is a bit lower than many of the laptops placed above. If you ever feel like updating the notebook, you better take your time as the computer is not easy to upgrade. The V17 also have the common laptop problem of getting hot during intense gaming sessions.

Summary: The Acer vn7-592G gaming laptop has great specs and a clean and polished design. The laptop tends to be hot after much gaming and the response time could be better. The laptop is great in all aspects but never shines in one.

No matter what gaming laptop you decide to go for from this list, you can’t go wrong. I have researched almost every gaming laptop in the 1000 price range and narrowed it down to these seven laptops. If you pick any of the laptops above, you will have a powerful and future-proof gaming laptop. It will run all your favorite games at high frame rates at best possible graphic settings.

I enjoyed writing this list, but it took me several hours of writing and even more time doing all the research. If you got any info that might benefit your hunt for the best gaming laptop, I would love to have you share my website on your favorite site or social media site. But now you have a more important task. If you haven’t already, pick the best gaming laptop under 1000 for you and enjoy the best of portable gaming!

  1. I am looking at Gaming under $1000 closer to Christmas. What do you think we will see six months from no (May 2017)? More selection in the NVIDIA GTX 1060 graphics + Intel i7?

    • Seems about right. But we will see in 6 months. One thing is for sure though, the best laptops for under $1000 will be found right here on this list. 🙂

    • Depends. Will you have use of the Ultra HD Display? In other words, will you have use of a better screen for watching FHD movies, doing work where a higher resulution is better or use it for the few games you can utilize the screen in (as already written, most games require a better graphics card to run in Ultra HD on nice settings). If you answered yes, on any of these things then, yes go for it. If, you on the other hand don’t care that much about the screen and more about how good demanding games look and run, then go for one of the laptops with a 1050 chip or better.

  2. Hey bro
It is a awsm list and the most helpful list I found I had wasted a lot of time on finding the best laptop to buy but this list had made me sure about buying a good laptop under 1000$ thanks a lot and I hope u would understand my bad English and again thanks a lot.

  3. Great list Alexander. Very easy to follow although I’m a bit confused as to whether to place more value on 7th generation i7 vs a slightly worse video card (the 940 or 950).

Amazon has the 3 following i7 laptops which all use Intel’s 7th generation chip:

    1. Acer Aspire E 15, 15.6 Full HD, 7th Gen Intel Core i7, NVIDIA 940MX, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, Windows 10, E5-575G-75MD -$699 on Amazon

    2. MSI GL62 7QF-1660 15.6″ Performance Gaming Laptop Core i7-7700HQ GTX 960M 8GB 1TB – $799 on Amazon

    3. Acer Aspire F 15, 15.6 Full HD, 7th Gen Intel Core i7, NVIDIA GTX 950M, 12GB DDR4, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Win 10, F5-573G-77BJ -$849 on Amazon

For choice #1 is having the newer gen i7 with a 940mx better than having a 6th gen i7 with the 960M?

How do these newer i7 laptops compare with the options on your list which are mostly 6th generation?

    • Don’t go for a better CPU and worse GPU if you want to use your laptop for gaming. The GPU will be the critical factor that decides what games you will be able to play and how smoothly they will run. That is why on the list, one of the main factors that grant a laptop a good spot is the power of the laptops graphics card. Most games will go from running smoothly at high settings with the 960M to running acceptably on medium settings with a 940MX. Sure, if you only want to play not so demanding games, like online games (Dota, Overwatch, etc.) then a 940MX might be the way to go. But then 699 would be a too high price to pay. I am about to write an article about the best gaming laptops under 500, and I can already now reveal that the best gaming laptop under 500 will have a 940MX as it’s GPU.

    • Agree, but the one you have as a link with the GTX965M is not the best HP CUK out there. I’m about to update the post. It will feature a brand new, really powerful HP CUK at the top.

  4. please tell me dell Ultra HD resolution Dell Inspiron i7559-3762GRY 4k game supported with gtx 960 4gb dedicated graphics card yes or no, if no then who is required graphics card 4k game thanks

  5. nice selection with the ROG laptops! they have hot designs and their performance are top grade. that gl552 and 752 series prices became cheaper also becoz of the release of gtx10 series or pascal notebooks.

  6. Hello, thank you for the great review. I was wondering which laptop 17,3 inches ,around 1000 $, is the best for gaming & work. (GE72VR Apache Pro-009 this one is amazing but hope his price to go down on Black Friday / What about the ASUS ROG series, i really want to pick a good laptop for the next 3-4 years, but my knowledge is a bit low .. And is there a huge difference between 15,6 and 17,3 inches? (Because this dell inspiron 7559 is looking quite good for his price.) And the last thing is about the cooling system because my laptop is getting really too hot in a 2-3 gaming session. Hope you can help me. ( I believe in your opinion 😀 )

    Thanks in advance.

    • The best gaming laptop around 1000 is the Asus Rog GL752VW / GL552VW, the number 1 on this list. But if you want to use it a lot for work and think the ROG GL series has a too flashy look, you can always go for one of the other laptops in the list. The Dell Inspiron i17559 is a really great deal for the price. The difference between 15.6 and 17.3 inches depends on the person. Personally, I don’t think the difference is that big.

As with heating, that is almost always a problem with gaming laptops. They will be hot after a long intense gaming session. The laptops in the list do not have any major heating issues but as with any gaming laptop they may be hot after much gaming. A solution to this is to take a break after the long period of gaming to let it cool down or buy a laptop cooling pad or similar gadget to cool down your notebook.

PS. A Black Friday discount on the GE72VR or pretty much any one of the Best gaming laptops around 1500 would be awesome. If there are any nice laptop deals on Black Friday you will find them here at LaptopBlogger. So make sure you come over here when you are ready to buy your next laptop. If you decide to buy it by clicking on any of the links on our site I get a small commission that will help myself and the site to continue improving. 🙂

  7. I know you said that the Asus K501UX is a bit weak in comparison to the other gaming laptops that you have listed here.

I would like to differ a bit. Remember that the Asus K501UX comes with 2.5 GHz Skylake (sixth-generation) Intel Core i7-6500U processor that can be boosted to 3.1 GHz on Turbo and an 8GB RAM. I have used the laptop and found it to perform highly at high settings without lags.

Besides that, I find your list really comprehensive and nice. Continue the good work.

    • The K501UX is a great laptop indeed (why else would it be on the list 😉 ). The reason it is last is the GTX 950M, the weakest GPU on the list. All the other notebooks in the list have the superior Nvidia GTX 960M graphic card. When you will use your notebook a lot for gaming, then a good graphics card should be a top priority.

  8. Hi,just one question, i noticed that asus rog has a gtx 960m but with only 2gb of vram while other competitors have the 4gb version, does this difference not affect the gaming performance?
ps:i would like to play at good settings with some games like battlefield 1 fifa 17 and civ 6
thanks in advance and sorry for some potentially language issuses, im not a native speaker

    • No, that won’t affect gaming performance. The additional 2 GB vram is only used on really demanding games on high-ultra settings. And those games will not play smoothly on a gaming laptop under 1000. So as long as you have a GTX 960M in this price range you should be fine no matter vram size.

The ROG will play Battlefield 1 at slightly over 30 frames per second on high and ultra and 60+ fps on medium settings. It will run Fifa 17 smooth on any settings and it should run civ 6 on medium-high decently but there are no benchmarks out yet for that game.

Ps. No worries, your English is fine. Thanks for the comment. 🙂

  9. Hey Alexander,

This is an amazing and well researched piece of resource you have provided. I came to know very best laptops in my budget. Thank you.

    • It is currently (September 2016) the best gaming laptop for less than 1000 you can get. You will play most modern games smoothly on at least medium to high settings. Some even on ultra, see the links in the article. If you want something even more powerful check out the article about laptops under 1500.

  10. I’d love to buy an Alienware, especially with screen 15. Unfortunately in Brazil do not sell, and when we find the prices are well above the average of which are sold on Amazon. The more great reviews. Att. Holanda

  11. Thank you for the list, I’ve been thinking about getting a desktop but my parents are divorced so i’m traveling between their houses a lot. Then I decided a gaming laptop would be good and I stumbled upon this site while searching the web, right now i have decided on the Acer V17 Nitro! Thanks 😛

  12. Hey great list Alexander,
I can see that you have researched a lot for this article because I purchased new gaming laptop last month and I shortlisted few gaming laptops in same budget. Most of them are present here. By the way, I am owner at authorized Dell service center in San Francisco. 🙂

  13. Helpful information. Fortunate me I found your website by accident, and I’m shocked why
this accident did not took place in advance! I bookmarked it.

    • Both are really good laptops. If you can afford it, the hardware is better on the Alienware. But I personally prefer the design on the Asus and I would rather have a laptop for gaming with the biggest flaw being it attracts fingerprints than a gaming laptop under 1000 that runs a bit too hot.

I guess it is up to personal option after all. Which laptop are you leaning towards?

  14. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate your efforts and this is exactly what I was looking for. I just wanted to know what the best laptop for the money was and I think I found it.
